A Time Most Trying

Well well well....its now the beginnings of July and a 6 month review of 2011 is in order..

So far I wold have to shamefacedly admit it has been a pretty crappy year personally, politically and even weather-wise. Now you know that when even the weather is all wonky on you, the tendency to sink into a funky blue mood is inevitable.

What do we have here now? Career in auto mode, mood at an all time low, relationship status still at it is and basic overall outlook in life not too rosy. I suppose its good to have these 6month reviews to re-evaluate and take stock once again of the Life According to Kevin Kandiah.

I recently had a chat with a friend of mine who happens to be a PA to a hard-driving, successful Dato. The usual grumbles and heart pouring of the day to day going ons and perils of working under such a demanding individual was the order of the day and, as it often happens, and epiphany struck me...

Why do we often if not always try to suit the situation unto our lives instead of vice-versa? We all know the only thing constant in this Journey of Life is CHANGE and yet we fight so hard to keep things the way WE feel should be...i mean ur boss is gonna be the same ole SOB he will always be (but he's the SOB who's driving the Jag and holidaying in Ibeza) so why not change the ME?

Attack life with different strategies and find one that suits you AT THE MOMENT. DO NOT, however, permanently stick to that strategy as Life will throw you and curveball one moment and a cannonball the next. So ...be FLEXIBLE. Flow through life as water. Bruce Lee said it best..."Empty your mind...Be formless, shapeless..You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, put it in a bottle or a teapot, it becomes the bottle and teapot...now water can flow, or it can crash....be water my friend...."http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USlnfTGlhXc&feature=player_detailpage

Weathers and Such

Crazy weather patterns lately over M'sia and all the world it seems. Raining too heavily for anyone's liking and definitely populations around the Globe is feeling it.

Give me a soggy day anytime over massive earthquakes and tsunamis. Say what you want about the politics, Malaysia still aces over most countries when it comes to weather.

Brings me back to the days when evenings were a time where mum and dad would take a snooze and us kids were just itching to get out in the sun with our mates and bicycle away till 7pm. No fear of kidnapping or bad hats and the worse to expect were the mosquito bites. Then it was tv dinner with some sitcom like the Jeffersons or something before homework and perhaps a little after dinner walk with the neighbours. Where'd all that go?

I tell you where: Astro, DVD, the Internet, Ps3, Fitness First gyms, etc. Its becoming more of a ME generation these days. Partner giving you hell in a r'ship? Bail! Husband forgot your birthdays? Bail! Forget the sanctity of marriage and being in a relationship used to mean something 20 years ago...now its just a "phase" that we all go through...as if nobody expects it to last "we'll see how it goes and then decide." Wow...didnt know being in r'ship was like test driving a car...ah well.
